Calling all women!

 

It's the 16-year anniversary of the Women Are Wonderful event to be held Saturday, February 6, at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center, 207 Second Avenue. The event is co-sponsored by the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center, Warren Public Library and the Zonta Club of Warren and features workshops, speakers, a coffee/tea bar and luncheon.

 

 

The following is a program outline for this year's event:

 

 

 

YOUR PET'S HEALTH  presented by Deb Niederriter
Time: 10:00   HAWKE ROOM
Basic health care for your dog and/or cat.  

 

ZEN INSPIRED PENDANT  presented by Jane Harris
Times: 10:00 & 10:50   JEFFERSON ROOM
Learn the art of zentangle, and make a pendant with a zen-inspired pattern.

 

THE SWEDE GOES ITALIAN   presented by Chef Randy Swanson
Time: 10:00 & 10:50   WETMORE ROOM
Watch Chef Randy make his award winning Italian meatballs and taste a slider.

 

HOBBIES AND CRAFTS REFERENCE CENTER  presented by Sharon Gage
Times: 10:00 & 1:20   UPSTAIRS ROOM 1
Craft enthusiasts learn about the library's free database that offers detailed how-to instructions and creative ideas.

 

PIYO presented by Amber Oyler

Try the new workout that is a dynamic blend of muscle-sculpting, core firming, strength and flexibility.

 

MANICURE & PEDICURE  presented by Lisa Thompson

Safety issues and what to expect from a salon. Learn basic nail art and differences in enhancements.

 

DRUM CIRCLE  presented by Diane Scarcella and Eileen Goodling

Participants create in the moment music using hand drums and other percussion instruments. No experience needed.

VINTAGE CLOTHING  presented by Jill Dart

See and learn about Vintage Clothing and accessories dating from late 1890's - 1970's.

 

PREP FOR PAINTING  presented by David Paulmier

Learn how to prepare surfaces for painting, hole & crack filling, tools needed & technique.

 

CREATING A PERSONAL WELLNESS PROGRAM  presented by Deborah Lebesky RN BSN

Assess your wellness, learn the key components and develop a personal wellness program.

 

REFLEXOLOGY presented by Kathleen Lombardo

Learn what reflexology is and how it can help you.

 

THE HEALTH CARE PUZZLE  presented by Chris Darling
Time: 12:30 & 1:20   UPSTAIRS ROOM 3
Coordinating patient care and helping people remain independent in their home. Learn how we are changing the way health care is done.

 

COLORING FOR ADULTS  presented by Rose Mary Landon
Time: 1:20     HAWKE ROOM
Experience a childhood activity and discover how it can benefit you as an adult.

 

HOW TO USE YOUR SMART PHONE  presented by Grant Wood
Time: 9:00 - 11:30   GYMNASIUM
One on one assistance with using your smart phone.

 

 

 

 

Registration for this year's event begins immediately. and can be made at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center, 207 Second Avenue. The registration fee of $12.00 covers the cost of the event, lunch, coffee/tea bar and must be paid at the time of registration. Registrations will not be taken the day of the event.

PRESIDENTS DAY

 

Please Note:

 

Jefferson DeFrees Family Center will be closed Monday, February 15, 2016, in observance of President's Day.

 

The Center will resume regular hours Tuesday, February 16, 2016.

Jefferson DeFrees Family Center is offering Pre-School registration for your child.
